When you work shifts through Upkid, your safety matters. That’s why Upkid includes an Insurance and Safety Fee—a small, per-shift cost that helps ensure you’re protected if something unexpected happens while you’re working.
For most shifts, this fee is only $1–$2 total, providing access to Occupational Accident Insurance—coverage similar to workers’ compensation that many independent contractors don’t have.

Upkid does not employ substitute teachers or provide insurance directly. The Occupational Accident Insurance associated with the Insurance and Safety Fee is offered through a third-party insurance provider commonly used by independent contractor marketplaces.
You remain fully independent—choosing when, where, and whether to work—while having access to protection that supports you while using the platform.
